Dragonfly Faerie Wings

I’ve recently started a new project creating some faerie wings! I’ve made wings before using a tutorial from Fancy Faerie Angela, and created a pair that I originally intended for a Stella (from Winx Club) cosplay.

But as it happens I’ve never worn the cosplay altogether, as I had it planned for a group, and the group hasn’t finished theirs still! +As time passes I grow disatisfied with the end result and I’ve resolved I can make better ones.

So I made plans to create these Dragonfly Faerie wings sketched here as a part of a much longer ongoing project.

I will be first wearing these with a corset and dress I’ve made in a fantasy photo shoot with Jenna Faye Photography.

And here is my little test pair using some new films I hadn’t tried before.

Side 1. is a purple/green iridescent film!

Side 2. is a stained glass effect window film!

I think it adds a dragonfly texture with the sections it creates once scaled up.

I am waiting for some hockey tape to arrive, but I am actually halfway their to my finished large pair.
Here’s what they look like cut out of a thick craft paper.

This paper is inserted between the films, with a supporting wire to link them in the end.

I have opted to change my methods a little this time around, as I’m not using the same materials, but the smaller test wings were so helpful with that!

I’ll be posting more updates soon with a finished look at the wings, and I’ll post a materials list with links to shop then.

While on a walk, I had a visitor enjoy my bright shirt.
